SLOAN - In maybe the fastest of NorSled turnarounds this year, Sloan has transitioned from 'mostly feral' to 'mostly socialized' within the course of 3 days.
This girl had a tough start. She was found near a Delano (Central Valley) reservoir. She is under a year old herself, had just given birth to 7 pups and was hiding in an difficult to access area. Animal Control (AC) was unable to retrieve her quickly. Unfortunately the pups were stolen but AC was able to save Sloan and she was transported up to the Bay Area to find a home.
Sloan is currently being fostered in Oakland with 4 other Northern dogs (2 male/2 female). In less than a week, she has transitioned from 'terrified' to 'pretty darn social'. She plays ALL day with the other dogs - she especially LOVES any game with water! (she makes up her own games here - maybe why she was found near a reservoir) Sloan is very much still a puppy. She comes when called and hikes on leash. She sleeps in a crate (absolutely her choice) and we are still working on fine tuning her potty training. She doesn't like to be left out of anything and if she is nervous she will just watch and learn until she is comfortable joining. She is a very curious and smart girl.
Sloan is hesitant with new things and new people (she had probably never been in a house before last Friday) but she quickly warms up if you do not force it. She needs gentle encouragement and carefully watches what the other dogs are doing.
A gentle, patient home with at least one other dog would be best for Sloan. She is on her way to being a stellar part of someone's family.
Make an appointment to meet this sweetheart of a girl!
If you are interested in any of the dogs, the first step is to fill out an adoption questionnaire found on our website and email it back to email@example.com.
Adoption Fee Details
Our adoption fees range from $250 to $600, depending on the dog’s adoptability. Small puppies usually have a fee of $600, while older dogs have lower fees. Adoption fees go towards vaccinations, heartworm, spay/neutering, micro-chipping, and medical care if needed. Fees help with kenneling, food, collars, leashes, sometimes even toys, and possibly the use of a dog trainer to help with behavior problems. These fees all go towards helping the dogs. We are an all-volunteer organization, with no paid staff. You don’t get this kind of full service and care when “buying” a new dog. Your new dog will come to you altered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated. Now all you need to do is get ready to meet your new best “fur”ever friend.
