This little guy, Roy, was left by his “owner” in a really sad way: a woman walked into a park, with Roy on a piece of string for a leash, said, “I don’t want him”, handed the string over to a stranger, and left.
The kind stranger brought Roy to the east bay SPCA to ask if they would accept him into their program and, while he passed the behavioral test from the SPCA, they just didn’t have room for a senior at that time. So, Roy was brought to us here at Rocket Dog and we could not love him more. Roy arrived in harsh conditions, matted, skinny and has lived his life in a backyard prior to being abandoned. He is estimated to be 6-8 years old. His overall exterior condition was a little rough, his heart is fully whole and overflowing with gratitude for any kindness offered him.
Roy just wants to be a lap dog. Yes, he gets along great with other dogs but really, more than anything, this boy just wants to be around people. He is a sweet and funny little guy. Roy came from a hard beginning but you can’t even tell he has ever had a bad day…he is alllll about the love!
Adopting a rescued animal is a lifetime commitment! Adopters must complete a questionnaire, personal interview and home visit prior to adopting a Rocket Dog. There is a non-refundable $240.00 adoption fee which helps us defer the cost of spay/neutering, vaccinations and microchipping, food and medication (Rocket Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization and this fee enables us to continue rescuing and helping animals).
