Special Needs

Opie is an amazing 1-year-old, 14-pound Terrier mix with a fun and happy personality. He came to AFRP from the Monterey County Shelter, and quickly became a favorite of staff and volunteers. Opie is completely blind in his left eye, and the veterinary ophthalmologist also found some abnormalities in his right eye, which could result in glaucoma or retinal detachment in the future. There is a possibility that Opie could become completely blind, so he needs an adopter that can monitor his progress and work closely with their vet. Opie is currently enrolled in the UnChained Program, which matches at-risk youth with shelter dogs in need of training.
