A Little Bit About Us

Pretty Nakuru is named after beautiful Lake Nakura and the town of Nakuru in the Rift Valley of Kenya. Karatu is named after a town in Tanzania.

They are shy and retiring right now and are happiest when they are with each other, they are bonded and need to be adopted together.

Nakuru and Karatu haven't seen much of the world and will need plenty of time to adjust to your world. A quiet home without the noise and activity of young children will be best for them. Shy feline youngsters need a small, cozy room for the first few days or weeks. Spend time with Nakuru and Karatu in this space, snuggling them into your lap or even under a small blanket. Pair your visits with can food and talk to them so they will learn your voice, in time they will warm up and begin to enjoy all that attention. Toy play with wand teasers may entice the 'lion' out of Karatu and Nakuru. Acclimate them to other rooms very slowly, and always allow them to retreat to the safety of their original sanctuary room. With gentle and patient handling and cuddling, these shy older kittens will become sweet and affectionate companions.

Adoption Fee Details

Adoption fee $150.00 We require an adoption application, a home check and have an adoption contract if the adoption is approved.

The adoption fees you pay help us defray costs we incur when pulling dogs from shelters. We are charged by the shelters the same as you would be charged. The others costs we incur include spay & neuter fees and other miscellaneous medical expenses.  We must also pay for the cost of advertising the dogs in order to find new homes, transporting animals, phone bills in responding to potential adopters (many of which are long distance calls), and food and supplements for the dogs.

All of the money you donate is used toward dog rescue.  Our volunteers receive no pay.  Usually, the amount requested for a particular dog does not even cover the cost of having rescued that dog.
