Meet Rowlf Muppet!

Rowlf is a 10 yr old, 8 lb Chihuahua who joins us from San Jose Animal Care Center via San Jose Animal Advocates where he was treated by Tails of a Shelter Vet

Rowlf JUST.WANTS.LOVE

Like seriously. He just wants to be loved all of the time, ALL OF THE TIME. He even does a cute little back up thing to help you pick him up.

Rowlf really hopes to find someone who will not judge a book by it's cover. Because, you know, his 'cover' is a little worn and beaten up. He is not much to look a right now. We are working on cleaning him up. Rowlf probably did not have a good life for a while. But someone at some point loved this dog and he CRAVES love from people.

He would love to find a senior citizen who doesn't care what he looks like on the outside and will see how beautiful his heart is and how much love he has to give.

Rowlf is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, free of parasites and has had senior labwork and a dental cleaning. He had to have most of his teeth extracted but eats just fine. He has the typical chihuahua 'trick knees' but they are not fixable at this point and give him the charm of walking pigeontoed (and they do not cause him any pain)

He is crate trained although he doesn't particularly care to be separated from you if you are home (he is fine if you leave). He walks well on a leash, loves to ride in the car, and is housebroken. He loves other dogs, seems to be okay with cats and likes kids as long as they smother him with love.

Can you help us help him find someone to love?

He qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors program where dogs aged 5+ can be adopted to people 55+ for a $5 adoption fee. Application required and all regular adoption criteria apply.

Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5

Umbrella of Hope is a non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals off death row from local shelters. We offer rebates of adoption fees after completion of obedience classes and CGC titles.

Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet. Some of our senior animals have sponsorships for their food/vet care/medicine for the rest of their life at our vet in Pittsburg, CA (94565)

Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service.  Other retired public servants, please let us know what career you retired from and we can let you know if we offer any discounts for your adoption

Please send an email to the Umbrella Of Hope Animal Director with any inquiries at beourpet@gmail.com. Detailed emails will be answered first.

We thank Maddie's Fund for their sponsorship, Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services, Lovely Grooming for our grooming needs, and Delta Dog Camp for training. We thank Memoirs of a Dog and Share the Joy Photography for the beautiful portraits of many of our animals and a special thanks to volunteer photographers Barbara, Kristy, Christine and Natalie.  Please support these businesses for supporting rescue!
