A Little Bit About Me

Did you ever have all the right ingredients for a recipe but couldn't make the dish come out right? This little cookie, Theo, has had a few half baked starts. Here's why. Theo is smarter than average by a lot, fun and easy to train, active, but not exhausting and worst of all, he's possessive of his people. But if you've read this far, that means you know the type and love the challenge. Or you just like cookies. At any rate, read on!

With a plus column longer than the minus, it is still imperative that Theo go to a home where there's not only a very clear understanding of who he is, but also some experience with his character type and a dedication to training and management, which will keep him from falling into the same trap he's fallen into before. And what was the trap, you ask? Well, just look at him. He's so cute even the most hardened anti-dog person would admit he's charming. He's extremely affectionate with those he loves and trusts. BUT he's just awful with strangers and the more attached he becomes to his beloved peeps, the more awful he is with strangers. This could turn into a Russian novel, so we ask you please to read his foster care notes in order to understand his background and the most successful path forward for our little hero.

Okay, back to the plus column. Theo is super funny and fun to train. He's a fantastic ball dog who has learned to fetch, trade and retrieve. This alone gives you a great tool set for exercise, training and structure. He loves treats and learns obedience licketty-split. He's cuddly, affectionate and adores belly rubs. There are so many high value things in Theo's life, he's the poster child for positive reinforcement. He's crate training like a champ in foster, getting along with the cat (who is super dog-savvy) and meeting new friends all the time. He likes other dogs, some more than others, and once he gets over his jealousy he's apt to share toys and even his bed. In Theo's case, familiarity breeds good will.

Theo is that guy who is way too special to overlook and way too complicated to just go home with the first adoring person he meets. But if one of the best companions you've ever known interests you and you totally get the drill, please talk to us and meet Theo. His foster mom thinks the world of him and she's seen it all. We believe in this young, eager to be good, engaging little man. We'd love for you to experience this kind of unconditional love, on condition you offer him safe harbor. If you don't let him down, Theo won't let YOU down. He's got all the right ingredients to make a fantastic life long friend. He just needs to find the right chef.

Adoption Fee Details

Adoption fee $150.00 We require an adoption application, a home check and have an adoption contract if the adoption is approved.

The adoption fees you pay help us defray costs we incur when pulling dogs from shelters. We are charged by the shelters the same as you would be charged. The others costs we incur include spay & neuter fees and other miscellaneous medical expenses.  We must also pay for the cost of advertising the dogs in order to find new homes, transporting animals, phone bills in responding to potential adopters (many of which are long distance calls), and food and supplements for the dogs.

All of the money you donate is used toward dog rescue.  Our volunteers receive no pay.  Usually, the amount requested for a particular dog does not even cover the cost of having rescued that dog.
